Welcome to Oslo Congress Centre – our venue for the 21st Triennial Conference for ICOM-CC in 2026!

Oslo Congress Centre is part of the Oslo Kongressenter Folkets Hus AS and is in the middle of Oslo City Centre in Youngstorget / Young’s Square. This ensures short distances between hotels and public transportation hubs and many of the planned visits for the technical tours.

History of Folkets Hus (the People’s House)

The location of the Oslo Congress Centre has long historical roots, tracing back to 1885 when the labour movement needed a common meeting place. Hence, the construction of Folkets hus (The People’s House), which opened in 1907. The old Folkets hus was torn down after World War 2, and the new house opened in 1957. Expansion of the house continued, with construction projects and property purchases and in 1989 the entire block was completed, including a larger congress centre and the original headquarters.

The plenary and the parallel sessions will take place at the Oslo Congress Centre. The venue offers several auditoriums for the presentation of our field research and several spaces for conversations and discussions between friends and colleagues, close to the poster session and trade fair.

The conference dinner will also be at the congress centre, where the in-house chefs will ensure delicious food with carefully selected, short-traveled and organic ingredients. All areas of the Oslo Congress Centre ensure universal accessibility.
